A Fun and Educational Trivia Card Game!
Go History is a fun and engaging trivia card game where you learn about significant historical events, figures, and places while being fun for most people who are over the age of 12!
Setting up Go History is easy, just make a stack of the question cards with the questions facing up, and lay out the date/word cards in rows, I suggest putting 3-6 in each row. If you are using custom cards put them into the stack of question cards. Below is an example of how it should look.
Go History is based on the game Go Fish, so there are some similarities. Like Go Fish, your goal is to match the cards. Each player takes a turn answering the question card that is at the top of the stack, trying to match the question card with one of the date/word cards. Each player has 20 seconds to match the cards, running out of time makes you lose your turn, having the next person answer the question. If you run out of time, and the next person solves the question, they get 2 points, if they also don’t answer it and the person after them answers it right they get 3 points, etc. Matching cards gives you get 1 point. Your goal is to get as many points as possible, getting a match right lets you take the matched cards and set them aside. The game ends when there are no cards remaining. The winner is whoever has the most points by the end.
For easy mode, I suggest using only date cards, as they are a lot easier to answer. Most people will be able to play easy mode. I suggest only using 15-25 cards for easy mode.
For medium mode, it’s really up to you if you want to use date cards or word cards. I suggest using a mix of the word cards and date cards, to add a bit of a challenge to the game but not too much of a challenge. Medium mode is more of a guessing game than a trivia game. I suggest only using 25-30 cards for medium mode.
For hard mode, I suggest only using word cards as the more you use them the more challenging the game is. Most people may not know the answers for hard mode, so I suggest only playing hard mode if you really know your stuff! (or you’re just really good at guessing) I suggest using 30+ cards for hard mode.
Date cards are the cards with years on them. So if you have a question like “What year was KFC founded?” you would have to look for a card with a year on it, it would say something like “1952”. Date cards are a lot easier to play with than word cards, as if you don’t know it most of the time you can just guess the answer.
Word cards are the cards with words on them. So say you got a question like “Who was one of the founders of Apple?” you would have to look for a card with words or in this case a name, it would say something like “Steve Jobs''. Word cards are a lot more difficult to answer, as they have more questions that some/most people may not know.
Custom cards aren’t required, but they can be used to make your own questions and answers, or if you wanted, you could write a question like “pick a dare” and have different dares (aka answer cards) that the person would have to pick. You can tell if it’s a custom card based on the background color being white, and it having a pencil icon in the bottom left corner.
